What are electrosex adhesive electrodes?

Adhesive electrodes are particularly useful when you want to decide for yourself where the contact points will be placed. You’re not limited to the fixed contact zones of a plug, dildo, ring, or other shaped electrode.

How do e-stim pads work?

Electrical stimulation requires a complete circuit. When using separate self-adhesive electrodes, this usually means you need at least two suitable contact points. The current flows between the electrodes through the tissue located between the contact points.
The placement of the pads therefore affects where the stimulation is felt. Always start at a low intensity and increase it only after the electrodes make good contact with the skin.

Electrosex pads and TENS electrodes: what’s the difference?

The terms e-stim pads, TENS pads, and TENS electrodes are often used interchangeably to refer to similar self-adhesive electrodes. The principle is the same: a conductive pad is connected via a cable to a device that generates electrical impulses.

Where can you place electrosex adhesive electrodes?

Adhesive electrodes can be placed on suitable areas of the skin to create different stimulation zones. The exact placement helps determine how the electrical signal is experienced.
Place the pads on clean, dry, and undamaged skin, and ensure that the entire conductive surface makes good contact. Do not place electrodes on irritated or damaged skin, and always follow the placement and safety instructions provided by the manufacturer of the powerbox you are using.

Sizes of E-Stim Electrodes

Adhesive electrodes come in various shapes and sizes. The contact surface affects how the current is distributed across the skin. A larger pad distributes the electrical contact over a larger area, while a smaller electrode concentrates the contact in a more compact area.
Therefore, achieving greater intensity isn’t simply a matter of choosing a larger or smaller electrode. After every change of electrodes or placement, start again at a low setting and then gradually adjust the powerbox.

Do you need contact gel with reusable electrodes?

With standard self-adhesive electrosex pads, no additional contact gel is needed on the adhesive side. The gel-like adhesive layer of the electrode is conductive on its own and ensures both electrical contact and adhesion to the skin.
Therefore, do not simply apply conductive gel to a self-adhesive pad. This can damage the adhesive layer and shorten the electrode’s lifespan. Conductive electrosex contact gel is primarily intended for electrodes where the manufacturer specifies the use of conductive gel, such as certain metal contact surfaces.

How long do self-adhesive e-stim pads last?

Adhesive electrodes can generally be reused multiple times. Their lifespan depends heavily on your skin, storage conditions, and how you handle the pads. Oil, dust, and dirt reduce adhesion and can impair electrical contact.
After use, place the electrodes back on the protective film and store them according to the manufacturer’s instructions. When removing a pad, gently peel it off by the edge rather than pulling on the cable or connector.

When should you replace electrosex pads?

Replace a self-adhesive electrode when it no longer stays in place properly, is damaged, or no longer makes even contact with the skin. A worn-out pad may conduct electricity less reliably.

Combining adhesive electrodes with an e-stim power box

Adhesive electrodes do not have their own power source. You’ll need a suitable e-stim power box and matching cable to use them.
When setting up your system, pay attention to three components: Always check that the connectors fit together properly. An adapter can physically connect different systems, but it doesn’t automatically make every combination compatible.
Powerbox: generates and regulates the electrical impulses.
Cable: connects the powerbox to the electrodes. Electrodes: form the electrical contact points on the skin.

Safe Use of Electrosex Electrodes

Electrical stimulation requires careful placement and operation. Before use, read the safety instructions for your powerbox and electrodes, and start each session at the lowest intensity.
Do not use e-stim if the manufacturer advises against it due to pregnancy, certain medical conditions, or electronic implants. Never place electrodes in such a way that the current path could run through the chest, and do not use them on the head or neck.
Place electrodes only on intact skin.
Make sure the entire pad makes good contact.
Start at the lowest intensity setting.
Increase the intensity gradually.
Check the pads, cables, and connectors before use.
Do not continue to use damaged or heavily worn electrodes.

Are TENS pads suitable for electrosex?
Self-adhesive TENS-style electrodes may use technically similar connections, but always check whether the specific pad, cable, and power box are suitable for the desired application according to the product specifications.
How many adhesive electrodes do I need?
An electrical circuit requires suitable contact points. For separate monopolar adhesive electrodes, at least two pads are therefore typically used. The number of electrodes you can connect at the same time also depends on the power box, cables, and any splitters.
Can I use conductive gel on a self-adhesive electrode?
Normally not. The adhesive layer of a self-adhesive pad is conductive on its own. Additional gel can damage the adhesive layer. Use conductive gel only if the manufacturer of the electrode in question specifies it.
Why aren’t my e-stim pads sticking well anymore?
Skin oils, dirt, dust, and repeated use gradually reduce the adhesive strength. Store the electrodes on the protective film after use and replace them when they no longer adhere fully and evenly to the skin.
