The Step Sound is available in

Four diameters in one Step Sound

Medium thus literally forms the middle of the series: longer and more gradual than Short, but still clearly more compact than Long and Extra Long.
Long – 25 mm per step
The E-Stim Step Sound Long increases each individual step to 25 mm. The four diameter zones together provide a maximum insertable length of approximately
100 mm.
The total length is approximately
120 mm. Because there is more distance between the successive diameter transitions, the entire progression spans a longer shaft.
Extra Long – 30 mm per step
The largest model is the
E-Stim Step Sound Extra Long, also referred to as XL by dealers. Each diameter zone here is approximately
30 mm long.
This results in a maximum insertable length of approximately
120 mm and a total length of approximately
140 mm. The same four diameters are thus distributed over twice the insertable length compared to the Short version.
Extra Long is therefore no thicker than the other versions—it also ranges from 6 to a maximum of 12 mm—but provides significantly more length between successive steps.

Solid stainless steel, hand-polished to a mirror finish
E-Stim Systems manufactures the Step Sounds from
solid stainless steel in its own workshop in Watford, United Kingdom. After the machining process, each sound is hand-polished to a mirror finish.
That smooth surface is particularly important for urethral products. The shaft must be carefully finished, with no sharp edges around the transitions between the four diameters.
Stainless steel is also non-porous, durable, and resistant to thorough cleaning. There are no motors, batteries, or other fragile parts inside the sound itself: the electrode is essentially a precision-crafted solid metal instrument with an electrical connection in the base.
One 4 mm socket in the base
Like the other members of the E-Stim UltraSound family, every Step Sound has one
4 mm banana socket in the base.
This allows it to be connected to the appropriate cable configuration from E-Stim Systems. The manufacturer lists, among others, the standard 4 mm Cable, the 4 mm Low Profile Cable, and, in certain combinations, the BiCable.
A connection cable is not included as standard.
Monopolar: a second contact point is required
The Step Sound has a single electrical connection and is a
monopolar electrode. The entire stainless steel body forms a single electrical contact point.
E-stim requires two contact points. Therefore, the Step Sound must be combined with a second suitable electrode, such as a self-adhesive pad, a conductive rubber loop, or an ElectroRing.
The second electrode completes the electrical circuit. The type of cable you need depends on the connection of that second electrode and the powerbox being used.
Compatible with E-Stim Power Boxes
According to E-Stim Systems, the Step Sound can be used with their line of power boxes, including the
2B, ElectroHelix, ElectroPebble, ABox, and E-Stim Remote. You’ll need the correct cable and a suitable second electrical contact point.
Connect both electrodes and cables while the power box is turned off. Set the intensity to minimum before turning it on, then increase it gradually.

The Step Sound belongs to the same

The UltraSound Smooth has a single fixed diameter and a long, virtually smooth shaft. The Dipstick also has a single nominal diameter, but features a groove every 20 mm that allows you to visually track the insertion depth.
The Step Sound takes a fundamentally different approach. Here, the

Hygiene is essential
When used urethrally, hygiene deserves the utmost attention. E-Stim Systems recommends
cleaning the Step Sound with an alcohol wipe immediately before use and using a suitable
sterile lubricant during use.
Work with clean hands and never force the sound. The transition to the next diameter should only occur when it is possible to do so without unusual resistance. Stop immediately if you experience sharp pain, bleeding, or other unexpected discomfort.
Do not use numbing lubricant. Sensation is important feedback here; blocking the body’s signals actually makes careful dosing more difficult.
Solid stainless steel can be boiled
After use, the Step Sound can be cleaned with warm water and a mild detergent or a suitable sterilizing solution.
E-Stim Systems also confirms that the
solid stainless steel Step Sounds can be boiled. Of course, remove all connection cables first.
Allow the electrode to dry completely after cleaning before storing it. Pay extra attention to the transitions between the different diameters and the 4 mm socket in the base.
